Daamn, this was also before I discovered ray tracing (was bouncing back and forth between volumetric lighting and ambient occlusion) to emulate the effects of real light, or read up on photography at all. And now, having just compared my old technique to the new, I've discovered there's such a thing as 'volumetric ray tracing', which I'll have to try out!! ⬛◾◼▪ ◾ I really appreciate the chance to revisit these now with your perspectives as well.
