I have some friends who are women on a native reserve in Canada, where these things happen even more commonly than normal, and this type of story never gets easier to take in.
Society might still be developing, and the issue still somehow eludes us, but silence never gets the ball rolling. Even if it took a new generation to care enough about the information and to put in the effort to overhaul the entire system, better to save people in the future than none at all. Hopefully it doesn't take that long.
I'm glad you remember her for the light she did and wanted to bring into the world, I sincerely believe you honor her, yourself and all other victims of these crimes and what's right by talking about it.
