I was speaking with a friend today, they were telling me of their own issues of self-perception.
I'm not generally the type to tell someone the opposite of what they're thinking of themselves, even when it would be the truth. Instead, I told them it was an issue of muddied brain wiring, that some old (and false) pathways needed to be cleared out to be replaced with new and healthier ones.
Ultimately, they liked the message that there are actual mechanics by which the brain modifies itself to give us a new perception of things over time.
One of the things I appreciate about you is that during and after all your suffering, you have grown this awareness and control of direction over your mind. What's more, is the example you are willing to set for others, even if it means opening up about things others might judge you for. Real life examples are hugely helpful in allowing others to evolve, myself included.
This last part isn't meant as flattery, only positive feedback. I'm honestly trying to incorporate this way of being an example into my writing as well, and without becoming more anonymous, but have several things holding me back from presenting the full truth. If anything, I've been cryptic, then often wondered if it was enough... not to mention stories where I've been a bad example. It's pretty serious, people do learn (on varying degrees) from what they see in others.
In all cases, I'll stop hi-jacking your article space now. 🖤
