I'll occasionally bring someone in need into the convenience store to get a couple of things, and I used to give them a straight 20 if I had it, but never yet have I helped at a shelter. It'll sound selfish, but I walk around a lot, especially at night, and I'm not usually looking to stop for conversations. If too many get to know me, I won't want to leave the house anymore.
