Three Ding-A-Lings Share a Dream, pt. II
“Hey, are we back!!?” Japeto’s voice rose up and echoed loudly across the flowery plains, an effect Bailor appreciated greatly, though he couldn’t replicate it on the best of days.
Nadae sat distantly among the blooms and weeds, facing away from her companions. It surprised her to hear their voices back again so soon.
There could be no chance she’d woken up yet.
At least one new memory, however vague, could be conjured otherwise, whether a moment at work, or a person she’d spoken to, or a newly learned fact—
Presently, all felt the same as it did before. As best she could recall, their previous reverie had just transpired.
Refocusing to the present, she felt the temperature was warm, and comfortable against her skin. She inhaled deeply, aware how shortly the realism she so relished would warp into something else — anything else, knowing these two.
Neither had answered Japeto’s call; they’d learned long ago the echo was all the confirmation he sought.
